Skin and Gut

THE TRUTH BEHIND ACNE

Acne is the most common skin condition in the United States, affecting up to 50 million Americans annually. This skin condition can be minor or severe. Acne usually begins in puberty and affects many adolescents and young adults. Approximately 85 percent of people between the ages of 12 and 24 experience at least minor acne.⠀

While many believe that it is inevitable, truth is that the skin is a major sign of Gut Health or lack thereof. Working on the Gut can clear the skin! More and more beauty professionals are getting certified and bringing this knowledge into their practice.

DISORDERS HAND IN HAND

According to am article by PMC: “The ability of the gut microbiota and oral probiotics to influence systemic inflammation, oxidative stress, glycemic control, tissue lipid content and even mood itself, may have important implications in acne. The intestinal microflora may also provide a twist to the developing diet and acne research.”⠀

Our depression epidemic often comes with visible skin signals and all tie back to the Gut

AREN’T YOU TOO OLD FOR ZITS?

Adults are now enduring the challenges of oily and acneic skin conditions. Clinical studies indicate that between 40 and 55 percent of the adult population age 20-40 are diagnosed with low grade, persistent acne

What is that The Gut directly effects the skin. Adult acne is a MAJOR sign of Gut Dysbiosis.

YOUR SKIN IS A SMART ORGAN

Skin issues are not random. The skin is the largest organ of the body and it communicates to us consistently. Psoriasis, eczema, body odor and especially acne are communication signals telling us that something (ahem.. Your Gut) is off balance. ⠀

Medications for skin conditions come with a variety of consequences and only exacerbate the deterioration of the Gut furthering the problem long term. ⠀

Like multiple areas of health, we need to get to the ROOT of the issue and the ROOT of SKIN is found in the GUT!

By focusing on a Gut Healing diet and lifestyle, you may see incredible results in your organs, first being the skin!

Here’s a few tips to start now:

Eat whole foods (no processed foods or refined sugars)

Drink water (Your skin is an elimination organ. Flush it!)

Work on that Gut! (a gut balancing diet will pay off in EVERY aspect of wellness)
